Dr. Rho holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National University and earned his M.S./Ph.D. from the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), where he specialized in ion channel electrophysiology and protein structural biology.
He conducted postdoctoral research in the Department of Physics at the University of Freiburg, Germany, contributing to the Virtual Liver project in the field of systems biology. Upon returning to Korea, he served as Head of Strategic Planning at Macrogen, where he led large-scale breast cancer genetic screening and precision medicine initiatives.
He subsequently co-founded Metacura, a biotech startup developing single-cell NGS-based immune profiling and antibody library generation platforms using microfluidics, where he served as Vice President.
He has since returned to independent research, currently pursuing AI-driven systems biology. His research interests include protein structure modeling and biological systems modeling.
Insatiable curiosity. We pursue truth relentlessly, driven by questions that outlast their answers.
Reverence. We approach life, nature, and the human condition with genuine awe — it keeps our science honest.
Optimism. Not as wishful thinking, but as a working hypothesis: that deeper understanding opens new possibilities.
Mature communication. We speak with candor, listen with intention, and engage with one another as whole people.
"Are you drawn to research that cuts across every level of living systems — from molecules to organisms?"
